This is the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) is the body that writes the standards and test procedures for PPE including safety glasses, goggles and face shields. The Z87.1 is the standard designation for Occupational and Educational Personal Eye and Face Protection Devices.
It means Conformité Européenne. This is the European Union symbol that indicates that a certain product has been tested and certified to the harmonized standard.
It mean United Kingdom Conformity Assessed. This is the UK symbol that indicates that a certain product has been tested and certified to the designated standard.
ANSI (American National Standards Institute) is the standard body for the US. Some other countries also recognize this standard. CE (Conformité Européenne) is the standard body for European countries and CSA (Canadian Standards Association) is the standard body for Canada. Each rating has different criteria for eye, face, hand, head, and workwear protection.
Different lenses have different VLT or visible light transmissions. Some applications will require more light or specific colors to come through the lens.
IR stands for Infrared Filter. The shade number 3 or 5 usually accompanies this marking to indicate the level of protection offered.
The number of square inches of reflective material and the fluorescent background material determines the class of the vest.
type R—roadway Type R provides daytime and nighttime visual enhancement for workers in occupational environments, which include exposure to traffic from public access rights-of-way, roadway temporary traffic control (TTC) zones, or work vehicles and construction equipment within a roadway TTC zone.
type O—off-road Type O provides moderate visibility, ideal for off-road workers.
class 1—type O Performance Class 1 offers low risk workers with good visibility. Class 1 is ideal for jobs in areas where traffic is traveling under 25 mph or where the work site is a safe distance from roadways.
class 2—type R or P Performance Class 2 uses additional high-visibility materials, which allow design opportunities to define the human form more effectively. Compared to Performance Class 1, Class 2 high-visibility safety apparel (HVSA) has the potential to provide detection and identification for longer distances.
class 3—type R or P Performance Class 3 can offer greater visibility through a full range of body movements in both complex and non-complex backgrounds by having retro-reflective and combined performance materials on sleeves.
class E Class E high-visibility garments do not meet ANSI safety requirements when worn alone, but when worn with a Class 2 or Class 3 garment, the overall ensemble is classified as Class 3.

This date stamp indicates the date of manufacture. Date code indicates month and year when the shell was molded this does not indicate service life. Maximum service life of 5 years (shell) & 1 year (suspension) from the time of first use.
Labels are acceptable if they do not affect a hard hat’s protective rating or make it difficult to find damage. Never alter or modify the shell or suspension system. Inspect the hard hat each time before use and replace if there is ANY sign of damage; replace hard hat after it receives a considerable impact.
Decorations should not be used to obscure dents, cracks, non-manufactured holes, other penetrations, burns or other damages.
Extreme caution should be taken when marking or decorating Class G and E hard hats. Metallic based markers and stickers such as some reflective tapes, metal foil labels or metal foil stamps should not be applied to Class G and E hard hats due to their conductive nature.
